  • September 6 - MSc Thesis Defense: WiSe Member Can Tunca has successfully defended his MSc Thesis entitled “Energy-Efficient Routing for Wireless Sensor Networks with a Mobile Sink”.

  • July 26: The project “Fall Detection Using Wearable Accelerometers” funded by Turk Telekom has successfully ended
  • July 11: WiSe alumni Mustafa Torun has presented a paper entitled “Complexity versus Page Hierarchy of a GUI for Elderly Homecare Applications” at the ICCHP 2012 conference.

November 2011

  • November 16: As a part of the JADE Project Workshop, JADE consortium visited the Ambient Assisted Living Lab of the WiSe group. Prof. Cem Ersoy, presented the WiSe research activities related to Independent Living and Prof. Lale Akarun presented the research activities of the department of computer engineering.

  • September 18: Two papers of the ARAS group have been accepted for publication at the International Joint Conference on Ambient Intelligence 2011 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (AmI'11). Using Active Learning to Allow Activity.

  • January 26 - PhD Thesis Defense: WiSe Member Can Komar has successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitled “Detection Quality Measure in Surveillance Wireless Sensor Networks with Travelers’ Favorite Paths”.
  • January 26 - PhD Thesis Defense: WiSe Member M. Yunus Dönmez has successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitled “Quality of Service Aware Contention and Deployment Quality Analysis in Wireless Sensor Networks”.

  • January 20 - PhD Thesis Defense: WiSe Member Sinan Işık has successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitled “Load Balanced Forwarding in Multimedia Wireless Sensor Networks”.

October 2010

  • October 17-21 Ozgur Akduran's paper Weighted Distance-Based M/N Track Initiation Methods for Wireless Sensor Networks in Clutter accepted for the Seventh ACM International Symposium on Performance Evaluation of Wireless Ad Hoc, Sensor, and Ubiquitous Networks (ACM PE-WASUN) 2010, Bodrum, Turkey.
  • October 17-21 Aykut Yigitel's paper Diff-MAC: A QoS-Aware MAC Protocol with differentiated services and hybrid prioritization for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks accepted for the 6th ACM Symposium on Quality of Service and Security for Wireless and Mobile Networks (Q2SWinet'10), Bodrum, Turkey. This work also received the Best Paper Award.

  • September 14-15 - Prof. Ersoy joined the WiNeMo project meeting and gave a talk at MACOM conference entitled “Wireless Sensor Networks for Health Care and Ambient Assisted Living Applications”.

December 2009

  • December 23 - The workshop “Home Care and Health Services, Mobile Technologies and Solutions” has been organized by WiSe members. The speakers were Dr. Cenk Tezcan from Intel Corporation (Turkey), Mr. Anil Sugetiren from Eczacibasi Health Services, Acibadem Healthcare Group and Hande Ozgur Alemdar from WiSe.

  • December 22 - An article about the WiSe research on elderly and health care has appeared in Hurriyet (local newspaper in Turkish)
  • December 17 - Members of the Department of Computer Engineering at Bogazici University has submitted an FP7 REGPOT Project entitled “STRONG (Strengthening The Research POtential in ICT for INdependent LivinG)”.
  • December 14-15 - FireSense Project has officially started. The kickoff meeting took place on December 14-15 at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Thessaloniki, Greece. Prof. Cem Ersoy is leading WP7, Technical Assessment and Evaluation.
  • December 7-10 - Ozlem Durmaz Incel has presented a poster at Issnip Conference (Melbourne), 2009, entitled ”Pervasive Visual Sensor Networks for Elderly Care

  • October 21-23 - Demonstration at E-Challenges 2009: WiSe Research Group has presented a demonstration on “Wireless Visual and Sensor Networks for Elderly Care” at E-Challenges Conference. (Slides, Demonstration videos on toolset used and activity recognition).
